Notes from the Deckle Edge
Happy May Day! This day reminds me of two things: 1. This is the day the Soviet Union used to have a big ole parade and roll out their big guns for the world to see; and 2. This is the day we would make baskets of flowers and place on our neighbors doorstep anonymously. I prefer the second activity to the first. It was such fun to ring the doorbell and witness the look of surprise (while hiding). Such a wonderful tradition that unfortunately has not been passed down. Shame that.
Yesterday I painted for about six hours. This painting is going well so far and I am having a lot of fun with it. I did have problems with one part, but realized that I had drawn it too small. When I fixed that, it worked great. A little annoyance, nothing more. The weather is beautiful today, but the clouds are moving in this afternoon. Poor light the rest of the week, but I must do this "art errand". So I won't get back to my brushes till this afternoon.
"As full of spirit as the month of May, and as gorgeous as the sun in Midsummer." - William Shakespeare
