Notes from the Deckle Edge
Continuing to work on this latest painting. What can I say, slow and steady is just my way of painting. Back to my brushes.
"I hate television. I hate it as much as I hate peanuts. But I can't stop eating peanuts." - Orson Welles
Worked all day on a new painting. Always hard to put down my brushes when I start something new. Can't wait to get back to my brushes tomorrow.
"There is a time for departure even when there's no certain place to go." - Tennessee Williams
Cold and dark today. Spent the afternoon drawing. Back to my brushes tomorrow.
"I would rather be the man who bought the Brooklyn Bridge than the man who sold it." - Will Rogers
Got my painting shipped off to NY today. Back to my brushes.
"Education is only a ladder to gather fruit from the tree of knowledge, not the fruit itself." - Anonymous
Still working on thumbnail sketches. I will continue to explore the three best ideas. Back to my brushes...Monday.
"Don't look for your dreams to come true: Look to become true to your dreams." - Michael Beckwith
The winter storm that hit Memphis and central Arkansas slowed my shipping materials by a few days. Since that has moved east now, probably no point in rushing this as the storm will slow everything down at the connecting hubs. Back to my brushes.
"Children are educated by what the grown up is and not by his talk." - Carl Jung
Still working on getting everything together for shipping piece to AWS. The airfloat box was delayed because of the weather in Memphis. I will make the postcard today which is a really nice memento of the occasion. Back to my brushes.
"Art is not a thing; it is a way." - Elbert Hubbard
Received my congratulations letter from AWS yesterday and will work on getting those forms filled out and getting this painting ready to ship.
"Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago." - Les Brown
Just got the news that my painting was accepted in the 146th American Watercolor Society's Annual International Exhibit! I'm incredibly honored and excited to exhibit again this year. I'm running the gamut between speechlessness, reflection, and gushing. It's a good day.
"This is my quest, to follow that star ...
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far ... " - Joe Darion
Went to my friend Deirdra West's opening yesterday evening at the ACO. Great turnout even though it rained. Met some great people and had a wonderful time. Then had a delightful dinner with my eldest before returning home. Hopefully I will have time to work today.
"Gardening is how I relax. It's another form of creating and playing with colors." - Oscar De La Renta
