I'm pleased to share that my painting has been juried into the 49th Watercolor West International Exhibit. The Exhibition will be on display from October 14th through December 17th, 2017, City of Brea Gallery, 1 Civic Center Circle, Brea, California. The opening reception will be Saturday, October 14th, from 5 - 7 p.m. My sincere thanks to the juror John Salminen and the City of Brea for the opportunity to display at this excellent venue. Congratulations to all the artists whose work was accepted! Back to my brushes.

A character from my youngest's favorite movie "Sword in the Stone" came to mind as I was rockin' it old-school at the drawing board recently . The curmudgeonly figure in this animated film takes shape in the form of an owl and was perfectly voiced by Junius Mathews. But I didn't need Merlin's wand or even the modern version (a computer) to accomplish my task. Just standard old drawing instruments and a little spare time. What was the hardest part? Finding the spare time of course. Back to my brushes.
"There are only two roads that lead to something like human happiness. They are marked by the words: love and achievement." - Theodor Reik You may have noticed that starting a new series of paintings and reworking my gallery page go hand-in-hand. I thought it was time to update and make my work a little easier to get through. So it may take a few weeks of juggling painting, working on the computer and other obligations to get it done, but I'll get there. It was again a hot day, but no rain so at least it wasn't steamy. Back to my brushes.
"Random numbers should not be generated with a method chosen at random." - Donald Knuth Is it hot where you are? I got out today and within five minutes I was rethinking my decision. I have finally started a new piece, even though I haven't completely finished the last one. I'm still working on the last, but will have to shelve it for awhile. Sometimes it is best to just enjoy the process of the puzzle instead of blindly going forward with little thought. So...it will rest awhile. Moving forward, I have the idea in words and sketch, but will certainly change a little for the final piece. Hopefully will get to the drawing stage this week. Back to my brushes.
