My painting is one of those chosen as a finalist in Professional Artist Magazine competition "Your Big Talent. One Small Space." Follow the links http://www.professionalartistmag.com/news/2013/oct/14/your-big-talent-one-small-space-finalists/ and give a thumbs up to the ones you like. Not surprisingly, mine is the one depicting the valve handles and shadows. I had been a little stressed with the pieces I've been working on and this little entry (3.5" x 2.5" transparent watercolor) was a real stress reducer and frankly a lot of fun. The hardest part was finding brushes in my collection that were small enough! Back to my brushes.

Finished! Started the third of this series this afternoon. Back to my brushes.
"Competence, like truth, beauty and contact lenses, is in the eye of the beholder." - Laurence J. Peter I continue to work on this piece. I have a list of things to finish and checked off five today...and then added two. Ugh. So, twelve to go. We'll see how it goes tomorrow. Worked eleven hours on it today. Maybe I'll complete it by Wednesday. Cross your fingers. Back to my brushes.
"Error is the force that welds men together; truth is communicated to men only by deeds of truth." - Leo Tolstoy Hope everyone attending the opening of the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society's 34th Annual International Exhibition at the Crary Gallery in Warren Pennsylvania is having a great time. Wish I could be there to enjoy the festivities there today. I received an e-mail a few days ago with the news that I was awarded an Honorable Mention for my entry. Always a wonderful surprise to get an award. It is an odd piece to be sure and not to everyone's taste, but I had so much fun playing with the placement of the bricks and blocks! Congratulations to all the participants, award winners, and a special shout-out to the Crary Gallery for hosting the show. What a beautiful venue! Back to my brushes.
"The trouble with superheroes is what to do between phone booths." - Ken Kesey I am pleased to share that my painting "Hear the Tiny Echo" was awarded the Clear Creek Award at the Illinois River Salon. Click this link http://hoaaa.wordpress.com and it will take you to the Heart of America Artists's Association website. You will find images of the paintings that were awarded on the left hand side of the page. The reception at Compton Gardens was packed, around 200 people. The six awarded paintings were moved to Crystal Bridges Museum for the Illinois River Watershed Partnership conference yesterday evening. The banquet was quite informative and the food was excellent. My hats off to Todd, John, and Andy for a job well done. And a special thank you to the Windgate Foundation for their support of the arts and the Illinois River Watershed projects. "All human beings are also dream beings. Dreaming ties all mankind together." - Jack Kerouac Okay, I have some good news to impart but you will have to wait till tomorrow. I have had a lot of traffic to my site lately, so thank you to all my new visitors. So...why do I have different quotes on my site? I have had this info on here before but you would have to dig to find it. I love cryptography. Art is my passion, - code breaking is my hobby. It is probably why I think so much about symbolism. If I have a free minute I will take out my book of codes and try to solve a puzzle. My favorites are those that include both letters and numbers. So these easy little puzzles are ones I have solved and I don't use a quote unless I have solved it as a puzzle first. Back to my brushes.
